Remember how hard it was for you to find that resort on your last vacation? It took you half a day to figure out the directions. There's solution to that now. Yes, the Global Positioning units. A GPS unit not only helps you find your way but also makes it simpler for you to travel to your favorite places time and again. However, there are so many of them in the market, how are you going to decide on one?

The first thing you have to go through is about how much are you willing to spend on this piece of handy technology because a single GPS unit can cost you as low as $100 and as much as $1000 depending upon the specifications they come with. However, that depends entirely on you, what exactly do you want for yourself?

Buy one which seems the most useful to you. For example, if you don't travel that frequently and want a device which can take care of your daily requirements try going for a cheaper one and if you have a lot of travelling all round the year then you should buy one offering the most convenient services. It may cost you more but it's going to be worth it.

Next on the checklist are technical specifications. There are basically two categories of GPS units, namely ones with the touch screen having a 3.5cm touch panel and ones with dedicated keys for their specified functions. Another thing that matters here is that whether you are looking for a handheld device or something you can install in your car. Nevertheless, going for something with a simple and user friendly interface should be a top priority here.

Interface is important when you buy gadgets. The basic two types available in the market are one with touch panel and a screen size of 3.5cm. The other one does not support touch panel interface but instead has buttons to do the job. Buy the one which suits you and can be easily used by you. You should keep in mind other features like navigation of maps and voice audibility.

What you will get with high end GPS units is far more greater features than the cheaper ones like language translator, traffic guides, weather forecasts and other cool features to keep you updated on every single aspect of travelling.
